What this is
The objective of this scheme is to eliminate the practice of untouchability by encouraging marriages between the Scheduled Castes and other castes, under which an incentive of ₹50,000/- or an amount as decided by the Government from time to time is awarded.
In detail
The scheme "Inter-Caste Marriage Award " has been launched by the Department of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of Himachal Pradesh. The objective of the scheme is to eliminate the practice of untouchability by encouraging marriages between the Scheduled Castes and other castes.
Who qualifies
Eligibility Criteria for Inter-Caste Marriage Award:
- The applicant must be a permanent resident of Himachal Pradesh.
- The age of the couple should not exceed 50 years.
- The marriage must be registered under the applicable Act/Rules.
- The applicant should not have received any Inter-Caste Marriage Award earlier.
What you get
Under this scheme, a person from another caste who marries a person from a Scheduled Caste receives ₹50,000/- or an amount decided by the Government from time to time.
