The scheme "Assistance to Scheduled Castes for Fisheries", with the component of Boat Net, introduced by the Agriculture, Farmers Welfare and Co-operation Department, Government of Gujarat, aims to increase fish production by rearing fish in reservoirs and providing employment to Scheduled Caste (SC) individuals involved in inland fisheries. Through this scheme, assistance is provided for boat nets, which are provided to Scheduled Caste fishermen and fish farmers. The scheme is implemented by the Commissioner of Fisheries, Government of Gujarat.

Objectives:

  • To increase fish production by rearing fish in reservoirs and provide employment to scheduled caste (SC) people involved in inland fisheries activities.
  • To boost fish farming or fishing activities in freshwater bodies by scheduled caste (SC) fish farmers and fishermen.
  • Fishing in reservoirs, aquaculture in ponds, and catch from rivers increase fish production and boost inland fisheries through scheduled caste (SC) fish farmers and fishermen.
  • The main objective is to provide employment opportunities to Scheduled Caste fishermen in the state and increase fish production.

Who qualifies

  • The applicant should belong to the Scheduled Caste (SC) community.
  • The applicant should be above 18 years of age.
  • The applicant should be involved in inland fisheries activities.
  • The applicant can be an individual, a society, a self-help group, an association, a reservoir monopoly, or a private unit.
  • The applicant must have a bank account in their own name.
  • The applicant must have an Aadhar Card/Voter ID/Ration Card/Passport as proof of identity.

The scheme specifically benefits Scheduled Caste fishermen under the inland fisheries scheme.

What you get

  • Tin Boat-Net Unit: 50% of unit cost or ₹7,500/- (Boat: ₹5,000/-; Net: ₹2,500/-), whichever is less.1. F.R.P. (Fibre-Reinforced Plastic) Boat-Net Unit: 50% of unit cost or ₹15,000/- (Boat: ₹12,500/-; Net: ₹2,500/-), whichever is less.
