The scheme aims to increase fish production by rearing fish in reservoirs and providing employment to Scheduled Caste (SC) people involved in inland fisheries activities.

The scheme "Assistance to Scheduled Castes for Fisheries" with the component of Fish Seed Rearing, introduced by the Agriculture, Farmers Welfare and Co-operation Department, Government of Gujarat, aims to increase fish production by rearing fish in reservoirs and providing employment to Scheduled Caste (SC) people involved in inland fisheries activities. Through this scheme, monetary assistance is provided for fish seed rearing to individuals, societies, self-help groups (SHGs), associations, reservoir monopolies, and private units. The scheme is implemented by the Commissioner of Fisheries, Government of Gujarat.

Objectives:

• To increase fish production by rearing fish in reservoirs and provide employment to schedule caste (SC) people involved in inland fisheries activities.
• To boost fish farming or fishing activities in fresh water bodies by schedule caste (SC) fish farmers and fishermen.
• Fishing in reservoirs, aquaculture in ponds and catch from rivers increase fish production and boost inland fisheries through schedule caste (SC) fish farmers and fishermen.
• The main objective is to provide employment opportunities to Scheduled Caste fishermen in the state and increase fish production.

• The applicant should belong to the Scheduled Caste (SC) community.
• The applicant should be above 18 years of age.
• The applicant should be involved in inland fisheries activities.
• The applicant can be an individual, a society, a self-help group, an association, a reservoir monopoly, or a private unit.
• The applicant must have a bank account in their own name.
• The applicant must have an Aadhar Card/Voter ID/Ration Card/Passport as proof of identity.

> Preference/Reservation:

The scheme specifically benefits Scheduled Caste fishermen under the inland fisheries scheme.

> Spawn to Fry:

• Assistance of ₹90/- per 1,000 nos.
• Minimum 30% recovery is required.
• Each beneficiary will be allocated 3,00,000 spawn.
• The rearing time is 30 days.

> Fry to Fingerlings:

• Assistance of ₹260/- per 1,000 nos.
• Minimum 35% recovery is required.
• Each beneficiary will be allocated 2,00,000 fry.
• The rearing time is 60 days.

> Spawn to Fingerling:

• Assistance of ₹460/- per 1,000 nos.
• Minimum 12% recovery is required.
• Each beneficiary will be allocated 5,00,000 spawn.
• The rearing time is 90 days.

> Frequency of Disbursement:

• The benefit can be reclaimed after a minimum of 1 year.
