What this is

The scheme aims to provide innovative, effective and integrated training opportunities for work force who need new skills to enjoy the dignity that comes with employment, independence and self-reliance.

In detail

The scheme "Advanced Vocational Training Scheme (AVTS)" has been launched by the Directorate General of Training (DGT), Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Government of India. It aims to upgrade and update the skills of the industrial workforce through short-term modular training. Through this scheme, short-term training courses of 1 to 6 weeks are provided to industrial workers, technicians, supervisors, engineers, instructors, and technical students for skill upgradation. The scheme is implemented by National Skill Training Institutes (NSTIs) under the Directorate General of Training (DGT), including NSTIs at Mumbai, Kanpur, Howrah, Hyderabad (Vidyanagar), Chennai, Hyderabad (Ramanthapur), Ludhiana, Dehradun, Calicut, Bangalore, Jamshedpur, and other centres. The training is offered in selected skill areas through regular and tailor-made courses designed as per the requirements of industries and establishments. The institute is equipped with workshops, laboratories, hostel facilities, and other infrastructure to support training. The scheme was launched in collaboration with UNDP/ILO and is delivered through modular courses to meet the training demands of industries and institutions.

  • To upgrade and update the skills of technical personnels of industries, Govt. Departments and Organizations for diversification in production and keeping them abreast with the technological advancement.
  • To conduct need-based training Program for industries, departments and organizations in the form of tailor-made programs.
  • Rendering consultancy in training/production techniques.

Who qualifies

  • The applicant should have a minimum qualification of ITI, Diploma, or Engineering in the relevant trade or branch.
  • The applicant who is currently appearing in ITI/Diploma/Engineering may also apply.
  • The applicant may be an industrial worker, technician, supervisor, or engineer.
  • The applicant from government departments or the private sector with a technical qualification can apply.
  • The applicant from the public sector or private industry personnel may apply.
  • The applicant with experience in the relevant field may also take admission.

  • Medium/Large Industries: ₹2,000/- (Regular), ₹4,000/- (Tailor-made)
