In detail

“Beej Masaale Ki Yojana” launched by the Department of Agriculture, Bihar, aims to encourage farmers to cultivate identified seed spices such as coriander and fenugreek keeping in mind their medicinal and nutritional properties. With the implementation of this scheme, the income of the farmers will increase as a result of increase in the production and productivity of seed spices.

Who qualifies

  • The applicant should be a resident of Bihar.
  • The applicant should be a farmer.
  • The applicant must have agricultural land a minimum of 0.25 acres (0.1 ha) and a maximum of 10 acres (4 ha).
  • The applicant must be registered on the DBT portal.

> Note 1: Beneficiary allocation:

  • General Category: 78.56%.
  • Scheduled Castes: 20%.
  • Scheduled Tribes: 1.44%.
  • Women Participation: 30%.

> Note 2: The benefits of this scheme can be taken by ryot farmers on the basis of land documents and non-ryot farmers on the basis of contract form.

> Note 3: Beneficiaries will be selected on first come first serve basis.

  • Financial Assistance: 50% subsidy on the unit cost of ₹30,000/- per hectare, amounting to ₹15,000/- per hectare. (First year: ₹7,500/- and Second year: ₹7,500/-) - Affordable High-Quality Seeds: Farmers can access certified or verified quality seeds of spices through OTP verification from Bihar State Seed Corporation, Patna.
