In detail

The “Cultivation of Aromatic Plants under MGNREGA” scheme is implemented by the Centre for Aromatic Plants (CAP), Selaqui, Dehradun, under the Department of Horticulture, Government of Uttarakhand. The scheme aims to encourage farmers in rural areas to grow aromatic plants by providing them free planting material, technical help, and wage support through MGNREGA.

Who qualifies

  • The applicant must be a farmer residing in a rural area of Uttarakhand.
  • The farmer must be interested in aromatic plant cultivation.
  • The farmer must either legally own agricultural land or have leased land for a minimum period of 10 years.

What you get

  • Under MGNREGA, when aromatic cultivation is undertaken, the wages for the work done by the labourers in land preparation and related activities are paid by the Rural Development Department, and the farmer does not have to pay the wages.
