The scheme "Combined Merit Scholarship" by the Higher Education Department, Government of Assam, aims to provide financial assistance to students of Assam studying in first semester degree courses and master's degree courses in any recognized colleges or universities in the state and other states of the country, focusing on students with uniformly good academic records and at least 60% marks in last qualifying examinations. The scheme provides access to poor students of the state and helps them achieve the benefits of higher education through merit-based scholarship support for undergraduate and postgraduate studies. Who qualifies
- The applicant must be pursuing general degree or master's degree courses in Arts, Science, or Commerce discipline in any recognized institution.
- The applicant must be domiciled in Assam (Permanent Resident Certificate document mandatory).
- The applicant must have obtained minimum 60% marks in Higher Secondary examination for those applying for Combined Merit Degree Scholarship scheme.
- The applicant must have obtained minimum 60% marks in General Degree (Three Year Degree Course) examination for those applying for Combined Merit Master Degree Scholarship scheme.
- The applicant must possess relevant qualification from any recognized institution.
- The applicant must have a valid bank account in their name (preferably in State Bank of India).

- The scheme provides 200 scholarships for degree students (three years duration) and 100 scholarships for master degree students (two years duration).
