In detail

The "New Akanksha Scheme (Educational Loan)" is implemented by the Gujarat Thakor and Koli Vikas Nigam (GTKVN) under the Social Justice and Empowerment Department, Government of Gujarat. The scheme aims to provide financial support for higher technical and professional education to students belonging to Thakor and Koli communities. Under this scheme, loans are provided at subsidized interest rates to students for pursuing graduate and postgraduate studies in fields such as engineering, medical, MBA, and MCA.

Who qualifies

  • The applicant should be a resident of Gujarat.
  • The applicant should belong to the Thakor or Koli caste/community.
  • The family's annual income should not exceed ₹3,00,000/-.
  • The applicant should have secured admission in a recognized institution for:
  • MBA or equivalent (approved by AICTE)
  • MCA (Master of Computer Applications or equivalent)
  • Undergraduate Engineering programs (approved by AICTE/IITs)
  • MBBS or equivalent (approved by Medical Council of India)

Note: At least 50% of the total sanctioned loan amount will be reserved for applicants from families earning up to ₹1,50,000 annually.

What you get

Loan Amount: Up to ₹15,00,000/-.

Interest Rate: 4% per annum for male students and 3.5% per annum for female students.

Coverage Includes:

  • Admission fees and tuition fees
  • Books, writing materials, necessary equipment and examination fees required for the course
  • Accommodation & food expenses
  • Travel and insurance premiums

Contribution:

  • 90% by Central Corporation
  • 5% by State Government
  • 5% by the Beneficiary

Repayment Terms:

  • Repayment Period: 60 equal monthly installments (5 years)
  • Start of Repayment: Within 6 months from course completion or employment, whichever is earlier.

Who is excluded

  • Loan is not eligible in case of admission obtained under management quota.
