The Government of Gujarat provides financial assistance to students belonging to Socially and Educationally Backward Classes (SEBC) who are studying in self-financed medical and engineering colleges/universities.
In detail
The "Food Bill Assistant for Medical & Engineering Students of SEBC" scheme was launched by the Social Justice and Empowerment Department, Government of Gujarat. The scheme aims to provide financial relief for food expenses to SEBC category students pursuing higher education in the medical and engineering fields. Under this scheme, financial assistance per month for a maximum of 10 months is provided to eligible students.
Who qualifies
- The applicant should be a student.
- The applicant must be a permanent resident of Gujarat.
- The applicant must belong to the Socially and Educationally Backward Classes (SEBC).
- The applicant should be pursuing a Medical or Engineering degree in a recognized institution.
- The applicant must have passed HSC (Class 12th).1. The applicant's annual family income should not exceed ₹6,00,000/-.
- The applicant who is already availing similar mess assistance under any other government scheme is not eligible.
What you get
- Financial Assistance:
- ₹300/- per month (₹3,000/- annually) towards mess charges for most eligible SEBC students.
- ₹700/- per month (₹7,000/- annually) towards mess charges for selected students (limited number of beneficiaries).
- ₹1,500/- per month (₹15,000/- annually) for SEBC students studying in self-financed medical/engineering colleges and residing in hostels (with a fixed ceiling on the number of beneficiaries).
- Duration: Maximum of 10 months in an academic year.
