On 23.03.2018, Hon’ble Chief Minister, Haryana announced the formation of Rohnat Freedom Trust in village Rohnat, District Bhiwani. Village Rohnat had played a pivotal role in the freedom struggle of the country. During India’s First War of Independence in 1857, severe oppression was inflicted upon the villagers of Rohnat. The rebel sepoys from Rohnat village had broken the jail and released convicts and inmates due to which the British colonizers were furious and they invaded Rohnat, not sparing anyone, not even women and children. As a mark of completion of 160 years of such oppression, when on 20th July 1858, the land of the villagers of Rohnat was auctioned; the need to create a Trust has arisen. The Trust would strive to undertake various activities in the field of education, vocational and skill training, creation of assets and physical development of the village, healthcare, focused development of youth, women, elderly etc. so that the inhabitants of the village can enjoy the benefits of independence under full concentration and focus of the district administration.
