The objective of the scheme is to ensure education and welfare of girls. The Department wants to ensure that all girls are able to study up to class-XII and integrating the ‘Beti Bachao Beti Padhao’ Abhiyan (BBBP) initiative of the Government of India by taking various initiatives in this direction. The initiatives include organization of various awareness activities (by way of Rallies, Print Media, Electronic Media, Jingles, Competitions at School, Block, District and State Levels etc.), Celebration of events (like ‘Betion Ka Salam: Rashtra Ke Naam’, ‘Mera Pehla Gantantra Divas’ etc.) Cultural Study Camps at Hilly & Coastal areas etc. By providing necessary infrastructure for girls in the schools like ensuring separate girls toilet, the Department is committed to cleanliness facility in the toilets especially for girls. It provides sanitary napkins vending machines and incinerators in all the Girls High Schools, Senior Secondary Schools and Co-Education High Schools and Senior Secondary Schools with girls student strength of 50 or above as these machines play an important role towards hygiene/sanitation and cleanliness practices.
