The "Incredible India Bed & Breakfast Establishments" scheme implemented by the Ministry of Tourism, Government of India, aims to provide standardized world-class Bed & Breakfast accommodation by classifying eligible establishments in States and Union Territories where no State or Union Territory approval or accreditation scheme exists. The scheme promotes clean, affordable, and homely accommodation for domestic and foreign tourists while encouraging them to experience Indian traditions and hospitality. Eligible establishments are classified under Silver and Gold categories after inspection by the Regional Classification Committee. Approved establishments are publicized by the Ministry of Tourism and included in an official directory, and hospitality training may also be organized for interested operators.

Who qualifies

  • The applicant must be the owner or promoter of the establishment.
  • The owner or promoter must not reside in the establishment.
  • The applicant must appoint an agent or operator who resides at the establishment premises.
  • The agent or operator must provide necessary services to guests.
  • The establishment must have a minimum of 1 lettable room.
  • The establishment must have a maximum of 6 lettable rooms.
  • The establishment must have a maximum capacity of 12 beds.
  • The establishment must operate on a bed and breakfast basis.
  • The breakfast type offered must be specified.
  • The applicable charges must be displayed.
  • Guests must be informed of the charges in advance.
