In detail

The scheme “Organic Certification Groups” under Spices Board India, Ministry of Commerce and Industry, is implemented as per the Modalities and Scheme Guidelines approved by the Competent Authority under the “Integrated Scheme for Export Promotion & Quality Improvement in Spices and Research and Development of Cardamom” during the 15th Finance Commission period (2021–22 to 2025–26).

The objective of this scheme is to support farmer groups and Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs) in obtaining organic certification for farms, which is a prerequisite for the marketing and export of organic spices.

Who qualifies

  • The scheme is applicable to all spice-growing States, regions, and Union Territories (UTs) in India.
  • Spices Board India reserves the right to conduct inspections or checks at any stage of the chain of custody, either before or after providing assistance under the scheme.

What you get

  • 50% subject to maximum of ₹ 1,50,000/- for ONER groups and 90% subject to a maximum of ₹ 2,70,000/- for NER groups.
  • Preference on eligibility/selection First:
  • Group which produces organic spices Second:
  • Above 50% of the farmers in the approved list of farmers producing organic spices adopting any cropping system.
  • A group/FPO is eligible for assistance thrice in a block year of 5 years from 2021 to 2026 consecutively or in staggered manner as per availability of funds in the component.
