What this is

The objective of the scheme is to encourage small cardamom growers to bring more area under irrigation and land development in order to increase productivity and improve the quality of small cardamom.

In detail

The scheme for Irrigation Equipment (Nos.) implemented by the Spices Board under the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, and as per the modalities and scheme guidelines approved by the Competent Authority for the implementation of the “Integrated Scheme for Export Promotion and Quality Improvement in Spices and Research and Development of Cardamom” during the 15th Finance Commission period (2021–22 to 2025–26), financial assistance is provided to motivate growers to bring more area under irrigation and land development. The scheme aims to increase productivity and improve the quality of small cardamom through the adoption of different irrigation methods.

Assistance is provided for the installation of the following equipment:

(a) Gravity Irrigation Equipment,

(b) Irrigation Pump Sets (IP Sets), and

(c) Sprinkler, Drip, and Micro-sprinkler Sets.

Who qualifies

  • The applicant should be a small cardamom grower from the states of Kerala, Tamil Nadu, or Karnataka.
  • The applicant should install the approved irrigation equipment, and the installation must be inspected and recommended as eligible by the designated officials.

What you get

  • 50 % of cost of equipments subject to maximum of ₹ 5000 (Gen) and, ₹11250 (SC/ST) for Gravity; ₹15,000 (Gen) and ₹45,000 (SC/ST) for IP set and ₹ 32,000/- (Gen) and ₹ 95,000/- (SC/ST) for Sprinkler/ micro sprinkler sets.
  • Registered cardamom growers having land holding size of 0.10 Ha to 8 Ha are eligible for Gravity and Irrigation pump set (IP Set).
  • Registered cardamom growers having land holding size of 0.4 Ha to 8 Ha are eligible for Sprinklers / Drip / Microirrigation equipments.

Note: Any farmer who has availed this benefit earlier is not eligible to avail the benefit.
