The scheme applies to journalists across Jharkhand and includes provisions for family pensions for their dependents after their demise.

Who qualifies

  • The applicant must be a permanent resident of Jharkhand.
  • The applicant should be a journalist.
  • The applicant should have an employee as a full-time journalist/media professional for a minimum of 20 years in Jharkhand or undivided Bihar (pre-November 15, 2000).
  • The applicant should not be a pension beneficiary from any other media institution or government.
  • The applicant should have retired at the age of 58 or as per the retirement norms of the media organization.
  • The applicant should have an accreditation certificate issued by the Directorate of Information and Public Relations at the time of retirement.
  • The applicant must not have any criminal convictions leading to imprisonment of more than two years.

What you get

  • A monthly pension of ₹7,500/- for journalists.
  • The family pension of 50% of the journalist's pension goes to the spouse after their demise.
  • Lifetime pension for retired journalists who meet the eligibility criteria.

NOTE: Pension payments are made directly to beneficiaries' bank accounts through an online transfer.
