The "Konkani Drama Competition" is a cultural scheme by Kala Academy under the Dept. of Art and Culture, Govt. of Goa. It is held annually to promote theatre among the institutions. Eligible participants are those registered under the Societies Registration Act, 1860, with renewed registration.

The scheme "Konkani Drama Competition" is a state-level cultural initiative by the Kala Academy, under the Department of Art and Culture, Government of Goa. It is organized annually to encourage and promote theatre activities among Goan institutions. Participation is invited through press notes published in local newspapers. Goan institutions registered under the Societies Registration Act, 1860, with renewed registration, are eligible to participate. Under this scheme, participating institutions are reimbursed for to and fro transport charges for two vehicles for carrying artistes and stage materials as per government rates and Kala Academy norms.

• The institution’s registration must be active and valid at the time of application.
• The institution should be registered under the Societies Registration Act, 1860.

• An auditorium with permissible infrastructure is provided free of charge.
• 80% of gate collection from ticket sales is given to participating institutions.
• Prizes are awarded by a panel of judges.

Main Competition Prizes

• 1st Prize: ₹1,00,000/-; 2nd Prize: ₹75,000/-; 3rd Prize: ₹50,000/-

• Two Consolation Prizes (subject to 10+ performances): ₹25,000/- each

Script Writing Awards

1st Prize: ₹10,000/-; 2nd Prize: ₹7,000/-; Translated/Adapted Script: ₹10,000/-
