The movement encourages voluntary participation in physical activities for at least 30 minutes daily. It focuses on developing a culture of fitness among school children and the general public. The component is implemented through the Fit India Mission Cell with support from educational institutions, schools, and sports organizations. Financial assistance may be provided to eligible stakeholders for approved activities under the scheme.
Who qualifies
> For Physical Assessment of School Going Children:
- Eligible Schools: Central Government schools, State Government schools, Union Territory Government schools, private aided schools, and private unaided schools participating in Fit India Movement activities.
> For Fit India School Certification:
- Eligible Institutions: Schools meeting the prescribed Fit India School Certification parameters.- Recommendation Requirement: Schools must obtain a recommendation from the designated district-level committee.- Compliance Requirement: Schools must comply with the infrastructure and fitness-related requirements approved by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports.
- Application Requirement: Schools must submit their certification claims through the Fit India online portal.
> For Grants for Events and Campaigns:
- Eligible Schools: Schools conducting Fit India events or campaigns.- Eligible Government Organizations: Central Government organizations and State Government organizations, Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs), and Paramilitary forces organizing Fit India activities.- Eligible Sports Bodies: National Sports Federations (NSFs).- Proposal Requirement: Organizations must submit complete and technically feasible proposals.- Implementation Requirement: Organizations must adhere to the approved implementation timelines.
