The scheme aims to ensure mechanised cleaning and provide related safe and sustainable livelihood opportunities to Safai Karamcharis and liberated Manual Scavengers. The Financial assistance is provided for the procurement and operation of sanitation-related equipment and vehicles for the target.

The scheme "Swachhta Udyami Yojana-Swachhta Se Sampannta Ki Aur" has been launched by the National Safai Karamcharis Finance & Development Corporation (NSKFDC), Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India, and aims to ensure mechanised cleaning and provide related safe and sustainable livelihood opportunities to Safai Karamcharis and liberated Manual Scavengers. Through this scheme, financial assistance at concessional rates of interest is provided for the procurement and operation of sanitation-related equipment and vehicles for the target group. The scheme is implemented by NSKFDC through Channelising Agencies, partner banks, and in coordination with Urban Local Bodies. Financial assistance is available to individuals, Self-Help Groups, Joint Responsibility Groups, cooperatives, Dry Waste Collection Centres, and Urban Local Bodies. The scheme promotes mechanised sanitation activities and supports sanitation entrepreneurs through access to loans and capital assistance. NSKFDC also works with Urban Local Bodies to facilitate the procurement of mechanised cleaning equipment and the deployment of sanitation enterprises.

• The applicant should be a Safai Karamchari (including a Waste Picker), an identified Manual Scavenger, or their dependent.
• The applicant may be a registered cooperative society of Safai Karamcharis.
• The applicant may be a legally constituted association or firm promoted by the target group.
• The applicant should produce a certificate issued by the local Revenue Officer/local Municipal Officer/Cantonment Executive Officer/Railway Officer, Head of the Govt. Departments (i.e. Schools, Colleges, Forest, Health, Education, Animal Husbandry) having rank not less than Gazetted Officer, Elected Members of Municipal Body & Pradhan of Gram Panchayats, Regional Managers of Regional Rural Banks(RRBs)/Nationalised Banks.
• The applicant identified as a Manual Scavenger under the Prohibition of Employment as Manual Scavengers and their Rehabilitation Act, 2013, is not required to furnish a certificate if their name appears in the final list of Manual Scavengers prepared by the State Government or Union Territory Administration.
• The project proposed by the applicant should be financially viable and capable of generating income.
• Scavengers and amongst scavengers those scavengers whose income is below double the poverty line;

• Women from among the target group and
• Disabled persons among the target group.

2. Financial Assistance to Urban Local Bodies:**

Financial assistance for procurement of sanitation-related equipment and vehicles costing up to ₹75,00,000 per unit.

• Municipal Solid Waste Management.
• Construction of Pay and Use Community/Public Toilets.
• Waste-to-Compost Units.
• Waste Collection and Segregation Units.
• Conditions Associated with Benefits

> Interest Rate: 7% per annum.

> Rebate: 1% for timely repayment.

> Repayment Period:** 7 years.
