In detail
The “Papita Vikas Yojana” is a component of the umbrella scheme “Mukhyamantri Bagwani Mission”, launched by the Department of Agriculture, Bihar. The main objective of the scheme is to promote the commercial cultivation of horticultural crops in the state of Bihar.
This component promotes papaya cultivation across all districts in Bihar by providing financial assistance and high-quality plants. It ensures inclusivity with reserved quotas for SC, ST, and women beneficiaries. Payments are processed through DBT, and both ryot and non-ryot farmers are eligible to apply for this scheme.

Who qualifies
- The applicant should be a resident of Bihar.
- The applicant should be a farmer.
- The applicant must have agricultural land a minimum of 0.25 acres (0.1 ha) and a maximum of 10 acres (4 ha).
- The applicant must be registered on the DBT portal Agriculture Department.
> Note-1: Beneficiary allocation:
- General Category: 78.56%.
- Scheduled Castes: 20%.
- Scheduled Tribes: 1.44%.
- Women Participation: 30%.
> Note-2: The benefits of this scheme can be taken by ryot farmers on the basis of land documents and non-ryot farmers on the basis of contract form.
> Note-3: Beneficiaries will be selected on first come first serve basis.
