In detail

The “Strawberry Vikas Yojana” a component of the umbrella scheme “Mukhyamantri Bagwani Mission”, launched by the Department of Agriculture, Bihar. The main objective of the scheme is to promote the commercial cultivation of horticultural crops in the state of Bihar.

This component focuses on expanding strawberry farming through providing subsidies on seedlings, wooden packaging boxes, and plastic containers.

Who qualifies

  • The applicant should be a resident of Bihar.
  • The applicant should be a farmer.
  • The applicant must belong to any of the following district: Gopalganj, Jehanabad, Lakhisarai, Saran, Supaul, Aurangabad, Begusarai, Bhagalpur, Gaya, Katihar, Kishanganj, Munger, Muzaffarpur, Nalanda, West Champaran, Patna, East Champaran, Purniyan, Samastipur and Vaishali.
  • The applicant must have agricultural land a minimum of 0.25 acres (0.1 ha) and a maximum of 5 acres (2 ha).
  • The applicant must be registered on the DBT portal.

> Note 1: Beneficiary allocation:

  • General Category: 78.56%.
  • Scheduled Castes: 20%.
  • Scheduled Tribes: 1.44%.
  • Women Participation: 30%.

> Note 2: The benefits of this scheme can be taken by ryot farmers on the basis of land documents and non-ryot farmers on the basis of contract form.

> Note 3: Beneficiaries will be selected on first come first serve basis.

What you get

  • Financial Assistance: Farmers receive a subsidy of ₹3,36,000/- per hectare to support strawberry farming. 1. Subsidized Packaging Materials:
  • 40% subsidy on wooden boxes for packaging (₹4.40/- per piece, unit cost ₹11/-).
  • 40% subsidy on small plastic boxes (₹1/-per piece, unit cost ₹2.50/-).
  • Provision of Quality Seedlings: High-quality strawberry seedlings are provided for cultivation.
