In detail

The Mukhya Mantri Kanyadan Yojana in Himachal Pradesh is a welfare scheme aimed at providing financial assistance for the marriage of daughters from economically weaker sections of society. Under this scheme, daughters of families below the poverty line, widows, destitute women, and families with an annual income of less than Rs. 35,000 are eligible for financial assistance from the government for their marriage. The scheme aims to reduce the financial burden on families during the marriage of their daughters and promote gender equality. The scheme has been successful in providing financial support to many families, particularly those from underprivileged backgrounds, and helping them to celebrate the marriage of their daughters with dignity and joy.

Who qualifies

  • Girl whose father is not alive and whose guardian’s total income does not exceed ₹35,000/- per annum (excluding MNREGA income).
  • Girl whose father is incapacitated or bedridden due to physical or mental disability, including prolonged illness, and whose family income does not exceed ₹35,000 /- per annum (excluding MNREGA income).
  • Orphan girls/neglected girls and women, including inmates of Nari Niketan and former inmates of Balika Ashrams, with no regular source of income.
  • Deserted/divorced women whose income does not exceed ₹35,000/- per annum (excluding MNREGA income).
  • Girls/women in moral danger or rescued from immoral trafficking.
  • Destitute women/girls released after imprisonment under any law.
  • Daughters of divorced/deserted women whose annual income does not exceed ₹35,000/- per annum (excluding MNREGA income).

What you get

> 1. The marriage grant at ₹40,000/- in each cases shall be admissible to the parents/guardians of the destitute girl/women for their marriage.

> 2. In case of the inmates of Nari Sewa Sadan/ Nari Niketan, Marriage grant of ₹51,000/-, shall be admissible to the girl/women for their marriage.
