The scheme “Self-Employment Scheme for Unemployed Minority Communities” was launched by the Minority Welfare Department, Government of Uttarakhand. The scheme aims to provide a grant of 25% of the loan amount to individuals belonging to minority communities who are permanent residents of Uttarakhand. The grant is available when a loan of ₹1 lakh to ₹10 lakh is taken for starting self-employment activities.

Who qualifies

  • The applicant must be a permanent resident of Uttarakhand.
  • The applicant must belong to a minority community (Muslim, Sikh, Christian, Parsi, Buddhist, or Jain).
  • The applicant’s age should be between 18 and 55 years.
  • The annual family income from all sources should not exceed ₹2,50,000/-, or the applicant should be a member of a BPL family.

What you get

  • Under this scheme, a grant is provided for self-employment. On taking a loan of ₹1 lakh to ₹10 lakh, a grant of 25% of the loan amount is given, with a minimum grant of ₹25,000/- and a maximum of ₹2,50,000/-.
  • The benefit of the scheme is available only on taking a loan, in which 60% of the project cost is provided as a loan, 25% as grant/subsidy by the department, and 15% as contribution by the applicant.
  • Interest on the loan will be charged according to the current prevailing rates of the bank.
