What this is

The objective of this scheme is to provide one-time financial assistance to Below Poverty Line families in case of the death of the main earning member aged between 18 and 59 years.

In detail

The "National Family Benefit Scheme", implemented by the Department of Social Justice and Empowerment, Himachal Pradesh, provides lump-sum financial assistance to families living below the poverty line in the event of the death of the main breadwinner. If the primary earning member of the family, whether male or female, dies between the ages of 18 and 59 years, an assistance of ₹20,000/- is provided.

Who qualifies

  • The applicant should be a resident of Himachal Pradesh.
  • The applicant should be a family member or dependent of the deceased person.
  • The deceased should have been the primary breadwinner (the main earning member of the family).
  • The family of the deceased must be living Below the Poverty Line (BPL).
  • At the time of death, the deceased must have been between 18 and 59 years old.

Financial assistance of ₹20,000/- is provided under the scheme.
