The scheme aims to provide free hostel facilities to children (both boys and girls) aged 6 to 18 years who are enrolled in nearby schools for formal education. In addition, children are provided with a monthly stipend of ₹200/-.
In detail
The scheme “Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Residential Hostel” is an initiative under the Samagra Shiksha Programme, implemented by the Secondary Education Department, Government of Uttarakhand. The scheme aims to provide free hostel facilities to the children (both boys and girls) aged 6 to 18 years who are enrolled in nearby schools for formal education.
There are a total of 13 residential hostels in Dehradun (Baniyawala, Araghar, Jhadipani, Nabha House- Rishikesh), Haridwar (Alipur, Laladhang, Mohitpur), Pauri (Srinagar, Peethsain), Champawat and Udham Singh Nagar (Gadarpur, Kashipur, Sitarganj).
Who qualifies
Free hostel facilities are provided to boys and girls aged 6 to 18 years who:
- Belong to BPL families or whose family's annual income is less than ₹55,000/-, or
- Belong to SC/ST/OBC or minority communities, or
- Have one or both parents deceased, or
- Are children with disabilities, or
- Are ragpickers, beggars, or from urban deprived and weaker sections.
What you get
- All children residing in the hostels are enrolled in nearby schools for formal education.
- All hostel facilities are provided free of cost.
- Children are also given a monthly stipend of ₹200/-.
