What this is

The scheme is to provide financial assistance to students belonging to the Scheduled caste community pursuing Post-Matriculation recognized courses in recognized institutions.

In detail

The scheme "Pre Matric Scholarship for Students Belonging to the Scheduled Caste Community" was launched by the Mizoram Scholarship Board, Government of Mizoram. The scheme aims to support parents from the Scheduled Caste community in the education of their children studying in classes 9th and 10th so that the incidence of drop-out, especially in the transition from the elementary to the secondary stage, is minimized. The scheme also aims to improve participation these children in the pre-matric stage of education so that they perform better and have a better chance of progressing to the post-matric stage of education.

Who qualifies

  • The applicant must be permanently settled in Mizoram.
  • The applicant must belong to Scheduled Caste.
  • The income of the parents/guardians of the applicant (from all sources) should not exceed ₹2,50,000/- per annum.
  • The applicant must be studying either in 9th or 10th standard.
