In detail

The "Pre-Matric Scholarship Scheme for OBC Students-Delhi" is a centrally sponsored scheme implemented by the Welfare of SC/ST/OBC/Minorities Department, Government of NCT of Delhi, under the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India, to support the education of students belonging to Other Backward Classes (OBC) through scholarship assistance and ad-hoc grants. The scheme covers day scholars studying from Class I to Class X and hostellers studying from Class III to Class X. Scholarships are awarded to eligible students whose parents' or guardians' annual income from all sources does not exceed ₹2,50,000/-. The scholarship is tenable only in recognized institutions and is payable for 10 months in an academic year. Eligible students also receive an annual ad-hoc grant.

Who qualifies

  • The applicant must belong to the Other Backward Classes (OBC) category.
  • The applicant must be enrolled in any of the following:
  • Class I or any subsequent pre-matric class as a day scholar.
  • Class III or any subsequent pre-matric class as a hosteller.
  • The applicant must be studying in a recognized institution approved by the concerned State Government or Union Territory Administration.
  • The applicant's parents' or guardians' annual income from all sources must not exceed ₹2,50,000/-.
  • The applicant must maintain a minimum attendance of 60% in the previous academic year.
  • The applicant must have a bank account in his/her own name.
  • The applicant's bank account must be linked with Aadhaar.
  • The applicant must not take up employment or assist parents in their work during the course of studies.
  • The applicant must secure annual promotion to continue receiving the scholarship, except in unavoidable circumstances certified by the competent authority.
  • The applicant must maintain school discipline and comply with all scholarship conditions.

What you get

  • Scholarship for Hostellers: ₹500/- per month for 10 months for students studying from Class III to Class X. - Scholarship for Day Scholars: ₹100/- per month for 10 months for students studying from Class I to Class X. - Ad-Hoc Grant: ₹500/- per student per annum for both hostellers and day scholars.
