What this is

The scheme aims to support the education of Scheduled Caste students studying in Classes IX and X. Through this scheme, annual scholarship assistance of up to ₹7,000/- is provided to eligible students.

In detail

The scheme "Pre-Matric Scholarship for Scheduled Caste Students" launched by the Department of Social Justice & Empowerment, Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment, Government of India, aims to support the education of Scheduled Caste students studying at the pre-matric stage, reduce school drop-out rates, and encourage continuation of education up to higher levels. Through this scheme, annual scholarship assistance is provided to eligible Scheduled Caste students studying in Classes IX and X. The scheme is implemented by the UT Administration of Dadra & Nagar Haveli and Daman & Diu. The scholarship is provided as a consolidated academic allowance to support educational expenses. The scheme seeks to improve educational participation and progression of Scheduled Caste students to the post-matric level.

  • To minimise school drop-out rates, especially during the transition from elementary to secondary education.
  • To improve students' educational performance and increase their chances of progressing to the post-matric stage.

Who qualifies

  • The applicant should belong to the Union Territory of Dadra & Nagar Haveli and Daman & Diu.
  • The applicant should be studying in Class IX or Class X.
  • The applicant should belong to the Scheduled Caste category.
  • The applicant's parents' or guardian's annual income from all sources should not exceed ₹2,50,000/-.
  • The applicant should possess a UT domicile certificate.
  • The applicant must study in a recognised school with a valid UDISE code.
  • The applicant must be divyang students are eligible for an additional 10% allowance.
