The PRIME Tourism Vehicle Scheme, implemented by the Tourism Department under the Chief Minister’s CM-ELEVATE Program of the Planning, Investment Promotion & Sustainable Development Department, Government of Meghalaya, aims to boost tourism in the state by providing 50% financial assistance for the purchase of adventure tourism vehicles. The scheme also offers easy credit through partner banks, training for operators, and government-funded GPS and branding support, thereby enabling entrepreneurs and entities to enhance tourist transport services and promote economic growth.

Who qualifies

Individuals

  • The applicant should be between 18 and 58 years of age.
  • The applicant should be a permanent resident of Meghalaya.
  • The applicant should possess a valid commercial driving license.
  • The applicant should be involved in the tourism sector.
  • The applicant should be associated with the adventure tourism sector if applying for a 4x4 vehicle.
  • The applicant should not be a credit defaulter with any bank or financial institution.

Registered Entities

  • The applicant should be a recognised and registered tour operator, tourism society, or similar entity based in Meghalaya.
  • The applicant should have experience in the tourism sector.
  • The applicant should be associated with the adventure tourism sector if applying for a 4x4 vehicle.
  • The applicant should not be a beneficiary under the first phase of the PRIME Tourism Vehicle Scheme.
  • The applicant should not be a credit defaulter with any bank or financial institution.
  • The applicant should provide an Incorporation Certificate or Registration Certificate, as applicable.

Unregistered Entities

  • The applicant should be an unregistered entity such as a village organization, self-help group, or traditional community based in Meghalaya.
  • The applicant should be involved in the tourism sector.
  • The applicant should provide certification from the Block Development Officer (BDO) to support involvement in the tourism sector.
  • The applicant should not be a beneficiary under the first phase of the PRIME Tourism Vehicle Scheme.
  • The applicant should not be a credit defaulter with any bank or financial institution.

What you get

Who is excluded

Individuals

Applications shall not be ordinarily considered for the following

A) Following individuals (currently employed as full-fledged or contractual, or retired and drawing a pension) and their Immediate family members, which include spouse, parents, and children up to the age of 30.

i. State and Central Government employees

ii. Employees of public sector undertakings, subsidiaries of public sector undertakings and divisions of public sector undertakings, etc.

iii. Any individual whose job is concerned with politics, such as MLAs, MLCs, MPs, etc. or seeking to hold a similar position in government

iv. Registered class-1 contractors

v. Consultants who are currently engaged with the state or central government

vi. Pressure groups and organisations that are primarily political in nature shall not be ordinarily considered

B) Only one member from a family is eligible for the scheme.

Registered Entities
