In detail

The “Financial Assistance for Vocational Training of Widows of Ex-Servicemen (ESM)” scheme has been launched by the Department of Ex-Servicemen Welfare, Ministry of Defence, Government of India. The scheme aims to provide financial assistance to widows of ex-servicemen to help them become self-reliant through vocational training. The scheme is implemented by the Kendriya Sainik Board.

Who qualifies

  • The applicant should be a widow of an ex-serviceman (ESM).
  • The applicant’s spouse should be of rank up to Havildar or equivalent.
  • The applicant should have completed vocational training from a recognized institution.
  • The applicant should have relevant spouse details recorded in the service book of the ESM.
  • The applicant should be recommended by the respective Zila Sainik Board (ZSB) and Rajya Sainik Board (RSB).
