The "Sagar Samman Award- Recognition of Outstanding Maritime Training Institutes" scheme has been launched by the Directorate General of Shipping, Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways, Government of India. The scheme aims to recognize exceptional contributions made by maritime training institutes in advancing maritime education, skill development, and human resource capacity in the maritime sector.

Who qualifies

  • The applicant should be a Directorate General of Shipping (DGS) approved maritime training institute.
  • The applicant should have participated in the Comprehensive Inspection Programme (CIP).
  • The applicant should have demonstrated consistent and high performance in training quality and outcomes.
  • The applicant should fall under one of the following categories:
  • Pre-sea training institutes for Officer Cadets (Nautical & Engineering);
  • Pre-sea training institutes for Rating Trainees;
  • Post-sea training institutes conducting Competency Courses.
