The scheme aims to support the establishment of dairy units with 10 Gir cows. Through this scheme, capital subsidy and back-ended subsidy are provided to beneficiaries via bank finance and NABARD.
In detail
The "Small Scale Dairy Unit (SSDU)" has been launched by the Department of Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Services, U.T. Administration of Daman & Diu and Dadra & Nagar Haveli. It aims to promote dairy development by supporting the establishment of a small-scale dairy unit with indigenous Gir cows. Through this scheme, financial assistance in the form of capital subsidy and back-ended subsidy is provided to beneficiaries for the purchase of milch cows, construction of cattle sheds, and procurement of feed, equipment, and insurance coverage.
Who qualifies
- The applicant must be a resident of the Union Territory of Daman and Diu and Dadra and Nagar Haveli.
- The applicant should establish a small-scale dairy unit with 10 milch cows.
- The applicant should procure indigenous Gir breed cows only.
- The applicant should avail a bank loan for implementation of the project.
- The applicant should utilise the subsidy strictly for approved components.
- The applicant should maintain records as per the General Financial Rules, 1963.
> Preference / Reservation / Relaxation: The applicant belonging to the Scheduled Caste or the Scheduled Tribe category is eligible for a higher subsidy rate under the back-ended subsidy and insurance components.
