The scheme "ICMR-Junior Research Fellowship" by the Department of Health Research (DHR), Ministry Of Health & Family Welfare, Government of India, aims to enhance the availability of trained health research personnel through providing short-term training fellowships and financial assistance to medical faculty and researchers. It supports training in both Indian and foreign institutions for a duration of 1-3 months. The scheme focuses on priority areas such as clinical trials, genomics, toxicology, and biotechnology. It encourages multidisciplinary collaboration and the development of research projects addressing national and local health challenges. The fellowship also aims to build a skilled workforce in advanced medical and health research domains.
Who qualifies
- Only Indian citizens working in Indian institutes are eligible.
- They should hold M.D./ M.S./ M.D.S. or MBBS/BDS/ MVSc./ M.Sc./M.Pharma/M.Tech or equivalent with Ph.D. in health/biomedical research.
- Faculty having at least three years’ experience in the college/institute as a regular employee.
- Persons up to 55 years of age as of the last date of receipt of application will be eligible.
- They should not have availed any fellowship of the duration of one month or above duration from any of the agencies of Govt. of India / State Governments for the same subject of training/research project.
- The fellowship is for 1-3 months. Fellowship is non-transferable.
What you get
> For Training In Indian Institutes (1-3 Months):
- Stipend: ₹40,000/- per month (if training is at a different station); ₹20,000/- per month (if training is at the same station). - Travel Support: Travelling expenses are provided as per Travelling Allowance rules of the parent organization. - Contingency Grant: One-time grant up to ₹20,000/- for local travel, meetings, and related expenses.
> For Training In Foreign Institutes (1-3 Months):
- Stipend: US $3000/- per month or equivalent in other foreign currency. - Air Travel: Economy class airfare by Air India via the shortest route from parent institute to host institute. - Contingency Grant: One-time grant up to ₹30,000/- for visa, insurance, local expenses, meetings; additional ₹20,000/- for attending review meetings. - Conference Grant: US $600/- for attending conferences or institutes of interest with approval.
