In detail

The scheme "The Delhi Family Benefit Scheme" is implemented by the Department of Social Welfare, Government of NCT of Delhi. The scheme aims to provide financial assistance to families whose primary breadwinner has died while being more than 18 years of age and less than 60 years of age. Under the scheme, a one-time lump sum financial benefit of ₹20,000/- is provided to the surviving member of the household who is determined to be the head of the household after due local inquiry. The assistance is intended to support low-income families facing financial distress following the death of the earning member. The payment is made directly into the beneficiary's bank account through the Aadhaar Payment Bridge System.

Who qualifies

  • The applicant must be a surviving member of the household of the deceased primary breadwinner.
  • The deceased primary breadwinner must have been more than 18 years of age and less than 60 years of age at the time of death.
  • The applicant's family income from all sources must not exceed ₹1,00,000/- per annum.
  • The applicant must be a resident of the National Capital Territory of Delhi for at least 5 years immediately preceding the date of application.
  • The applicant must have a singly operated bank account for receiving payment through the Public Financial Management System (PFMS).
  • The applicant must have an Aadhaar Number or must have enrolled with the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) for Aadhaar.
